High-fidelity obstetric ultrasound simulation — train on real 3D/4D datasets, rare fetal anomalies, and clinical scenarios in a safe, repeatable environment.
OPUS Ultrasound simulation provides a safe and effective environment in which trainees can develop essential scanning skills before working with patients. It facilitates transducer manipulation, eye–hand coordination, understanding of probe movements, three-dimensional reconstruction of ultrasound images, image optimisation and interpretation. It also ensures repeated exposure to rare fetal anomalies and clinical scenarios that may not be readily available during routine training.
The Volutracer O.P.U.S. system is a high-fidelity optical positioning ultrasound simulator based on real 3D and 4D/STIC volume datasets. A camera tracks the position and orientation of the virtual transducer, displaying corresponding high-resolution ultrasound images in real time. Six degrees of freedom reproduce the probe movements required for transabdominal and transvaginal scanning.
O.P.U.S. enables participants to practise normal and pathological cases repeatedly, supporting systematic, focused and reproducible training in obstetric ultrasound and fetal echocardiography.
